Different from all others, wine glasses require a special care, since they’re usually made of a very thin and delicate glass, crystal, which provides a better experience during smelling, tasting and drinking good wine.

Glass cups, on the other hand, require less care since they’re much more resistant to high temperatures as well as to the cleaning agents and, therefore, they can go to dishwasher (but they better not, anyway). The appearance of the liquid and glass reflexes are adulterated when there’s no care when it’s time to clean the glasses and it can lead to dull crystal, finger smudges, wine traces, etc.

So, in order to beware of wine glasses and improving the wine tasting experience, we suggest you some tips:

  1. First of all, dishwasher is not recommended to wash up crystal glasses, due to the high temperatures and detergents it uses.
  2. So get your hands dirty – literally!
  3. Even though using the non-abrasive side of a sponge (usually yellow) isn’t incorrect, it’s preferable to wash it up only with your hands, using a drop of detergent and warm running water to rinse.
  4. To dry a glass, dispose it upside down in a dry cloth and odor free. After a while, turn them up and let them dry naturally. If you need to speed up this procedure, dry it with a microfiber or flannel cloth.
  5. Don’t forget: never serve wine in a hot glass freshly washed.
