The truth is that there is a enormous range of wine accessories in the market. There are for every taste, on each color, price and forms.
At the same time, it is also true that there are lots of repetitive accessories in its function, and others that are know valued and are rarely used.
Which accessories should I have at home?
It is important to have some accessories in order to enjoy a wine at its best in any situation.
We have already talked about the perfect glass for each wine here. I now leave my opinion abou other accessories:
Foil cutter – Even some cork screws have a litter cutter, this is faster and the cut will be uniform.
Bottle opener / Corkscrew – It is essential to assure you can take the cork without break or destroy it.
Thermometer – it helps verifying if the wine is at the right temperature to serve. Very useful for professional tastings.
Drop-stop – very useful and cheap. It is great to avoid dropping wine on the table or someone.
Wine preserver / Vacuum bottle stopper – given the oxygen changes the wine, this this the best way to conserve it after opened, allowing the wine to keep its characteristics for some days.
Sparkling wine stopper – it helps the sparkling conserving its carbonic gas. You are supposed to use it as you are drinking the bottle, in order to keep as much gas as possible.
Wine bucket – used to rapidly refresh the wine. Tip: put some salt on the ice. It will keep it cold for a longer time.
Decanter – helps to oxygenate the wine, allowing it to open its aromas. On the other hand it helps to separate its sediments.
Cheers!
