Sometimes, when drinking a nice wine, we feel something is missing. It seems its texture, complexity and aromas are not exactly what we were expecting. The wine is good but it does not taste perfectly and we know we it could be better. Is anything missing?

Maybe. So I leave here 3 tips on how to appreciate a wine correctly. Following these steps, your tasting will be more pleasant for sure.

1. Serve it at the right temperature

Wine tasting is quite subjective but, in order to exploit the most in a wine, the recommended temperature is something that should be respected.

Each wine has its aromas, complexity and structure, that might be more easily felt when at the right temperature. Here you can find an explanation on the right temperature to each type of wine.

2. Let it breath

Wine is volatile and decanting it will make it soft. Open the bottle and let it rest, even when for some hours, is not the most efficient way given its neck is narrow (and does not let the aromes to be opened). The best way is to use a decante for a quicker and more efficient breathing.

The key for breathing is time! The more young, intense, red and tannic a wine is, the more it needs time in the decanter. On the other hand, the more complex, full-bodied, the less. When it comes to aged wines, given they are very volatile, a few minutes are enough.

3. glass type is enough

We have already talked here about the right type of glass for each wine.

The right type of lass can make all the difference and make the tasting much more pleasant. Even though, we do not need a type of glass for each grape variety, each region or each type of wine. It is also not necessary to spend a fortune in too many types of glass. There are glasses that can be used both in red and white wines, for example.

Cheers!
